Beef for sale
We are sold out of beef share, and will not have anything available until Fall of 2010.
All of our cattle are treated humanely and are raised naturally. No hormones or
steroids used at any time. Their main diet is grass, alfalfa and only a very small
amount of grain, carrots and apples, that we feed as treats. We make sure they are
happy and healthy. All of our cattle are Angus at this time. Meat breeds will have a
higher yield and better tasting meat than dairy breeds such as a Jersey cows.
The best time to harvest cattle is if they are between 600 Lbs and 1200 Lbs (Live
weight). Each animal will yield around 40-55% depending on the animal. For
example a 1000 Lbs live animal that yields 50%, will have a 500 Lbs hanging weight.
Our prices are listed below and are charged by the hanging weight. (weight that is
hanging in the butchers cooler, after the carcass is skinned etc.)
We don't have a scale and can only guess the live weight and expected yield of the
animal. We sell the cattle whole, halves or quarters. We require a $500 deposit for a
whole, $250 for a half and $200 for a quarter. The price includes us taking the
animal to the butcher and all the processing fee. We will tell the butcher how you
like your meat cut and packaged. The price includes double rapped freezer paper, if
you like your meat to be shrink rapped, we will charge an additional 20 cent per Lbs.
If we sell the animal by the quarter, we will tell the butcher how the 1/4 are cut, for
example 1 pound hamburgers, two steaks in one package etc. (halves and whole
you tell the butcher on how to cut it)
If you only buy a half or a quarter, we can't take the animal to be butchered until we
have the other half or quarters sold. The deposit is due at time of reservation and
we will tell you the exact hanging weight and price the day or the day after we take
the animal to the butcher. The remaining amount is due within 3 days of notification
of the final price. If the meat is paid in full you can then pick the meat up at the
butcher after it is ready or we can deliver it for a small fee (depending on where you
live).
